Ready to Start.

July 26, 2017

You all may be wondering why I didn't post (ok, maybe a few of you are wondering). Halfway through I guess I fell asleep last night. And then somehow managed to erase the whole thing. Did my head hit the keyboard and then hit "delete"? The world may never know. So later alligator, back at it tonight- we are hanging in there and I have more tales from the health care crypt plus life's little foibles that manage to get into your butt like beach sand that takes a good long shower to wash away.

So yes, here's the post I fell asleep on, finally done. Is it Friday yet? I've determined that every day is equal to about three when it comes to dealing with major strife. My original plan today was to go to rehab early, stay until 11, go to work until about 4, then head back to rehab until 9ish. One great thing we found out yesterday, was that you're allowed to bring your pets into visit. So when I came this morning, i surprised Abby with a Jake visit- it was the best medicine she's received to date. Well, that, and the ativan/oxy cosmo-looking cocktail they give her through her g-tube. Jake got on the bed and basically did his best house cat impersonation, and laid on that bed for about 4 hours. Abby was so chill having him there that when they came in to give her the pain meds, she didn't even remember that it was time to get them.

Once the day swung into action, I think just about every human being that worked at the rehab center marched through, with Jake wagging and snoring his approval. My phone also was blowing up at the same time; calls from doctors, nurses, assistants, schedulers, case workers, fruit of the month club, and some guy looking for "Juan". By the time I finished smiling and dialing, and dialing and smiling it was noon, and I still was still stuck in Hell's phone booth. So I ended up going home to work for a few hours- thankfully my boss has been pretty understanding so far.

The result(s) of all those fun conversations were basically this: no PET scan for now; chest and abdomen CT scans instead- if something shows on those, then possibly they will allow a PET scan- so we shall see. And the doctors have essentially said that the treatment they have laid out is solid and aggressive, and no need to wait- they will adjust the regimen if necessary depending upon if they see anything else on the scans. So 6-7 weeks of M-F radiation starting next Monday, them weekly chemo starting next Tuesday. The actual logistics of getting to and fro from all of the upcoming appointments is a travel agents worst nightmare. Have to go by ambulance, so everything has to go through insurance and approved; we most likely will either need a nurse to go with us in the ambulance or make sure there is one available on the other end; and finally, the earth needs to start orbiting the moon. Basically, easy stuff.

Once again, thank you all for your rock-solid support, which is extremely important when you feel like you're living in a house of cards. Or even just still watching last season.

Much love a nice dreams to all.
