Bah-da bah-da-da-da...Monday, Monday...
I am trying to keep myself entertained as I'm not used to so much FB time, so my posts may get loopy on occasion. Today Abby took her first shower(!) was awesomeness for her though very exhausting, and ditched her johnny-on-the-spot for comfy jammie's I bought on a Target scavenger hunt she sent me on. Did you know you can't find a folding compact mirror of any sort in Target? Nope. And that zippered hoodie sweatshirts were out of season? Almost bought her a bathing suit but somehow I knew it might not go over well. Abby also walked again- good long one. Really wears her out though. So shower + walk = pretty tired but she earned it, and the accompanying pain meds that go with it. She is scheduled for a full body PET scan tomorrow- and follow-up Wednesday consult with the big boys of oncology (is that a band name?). But seriously- very scary stuff to find out if the tumor is contained, so please keep your fingers and toes crossed everyone. Finally, we are also scheduled to be discharged tomorrow, and off to a rehab facility- next in a long step of eventually getting her home, and starting treatment. I have 3 dogs and 2 cats in bed with me now- I think they're missing Abby Trotter Grant, or possibly just trying to get me off the bed and onto the couch- bed hogs. Nite and best to you all.

Very late update today- long day, a bit tough on Abby Trotter Grant. Didn't sleep well-had to change rooms in ICU, and it was noisy. So she was very tired today, and still lots of pain around her gastric feeding tube, so she wasn't up to walking which she really needs to do to stimulate her lungs and keep them clear. But tomorrow is another day, and the good news is tonight we moved out of ICU to the surgical floor. We also were shown how to clear and clean her trachea tube, I helped change the bandages (got to wear the fun latex gloves), and was shown how to help pump oxygen into her trachea tube using a balloon type of pump. More lessons on those things in the days to come. As of now off to rehab this Monday - stay tuned. G'Nite all and keep keeping the faith and again, thank you all for everything.
July 15, 2017 / Part 2 Another late daily update- guess this might be the norm so I'll go with better late than never. Good day today- Abby Trotter Grant walked again- did a couple of long hallways with a walker, me, the nurse, pulling tons of contraptions. Reminded me of how Abby and I always hated how when walking in the city and there's 3 or 4 people walking towards you on the sidewalk and you have no place to go (we think it quite rude when people do that btw) and it's a game of chicken of who moves. Well that was us- clogging traffic for quite awhile- but everyone was gracious and it gave me a chance to make a few people crack up- just trying to do my job. Abby also got to chew on a few bits of ice- very enjoyable and it's exercise for her mouth the nurses said. Hard to believe that Abby would ever need to exercise her mouth(!) very ironic. So good small steps- hope tomorrow brings the same. Still waiting on when/if we move to a rehab center- just looooove dealing with the healthcare system. Lots of love to all. More tomorrow.
July 15, 2017 / Part 1
Not an update here, just this thought: we all have friends (hopefully!); "close/inner circle friends", "peripheral friends", "work friends", "gym friends", "old friends", "new friends" etc. What I am finding in the silver lining here, is that you all have always warmed my heart, and made me a stronger and better person, but now I can feel an entire community of friends as a whole without distinction. Abby Trotter Grant is one of the most social people (right?) that I have have ever known, and I can't wait for the day that I will be able to share everything that you all have done. I wish I could respond, like and comment to every message we've gotten, but I am reading, feeling and being empowered by as many of them I can read. And to the guy with the chainsaw who woke me up early this morning, we will definitely have to have a chat
