Hi Everyone. Welcome to "hearAbby". For those new to our saga, a brief introduction. My wife Abby Grant, was diagnosed on July 11, 2017 with inoperable esophageal cancer. What's happened since then I've tried to lay out in a series of posts that I've been sharing on my Facebook page with family and friends, pretty much, since D-Day One, albeit with varying degrees of regularity.

So I finally decided (with many kind kudos and prompts) to set up a blog/website, where I could warehouse all my previous posts, and create the new ones as we continue riding our Sword of Damocles Roller Coaster. If Disney wants to borrow the name for a future ride, please have them give me a shout, but it's definitely not for the meek of heart. Actually, I can't really recommend it to anyone.
As far as name of the blog, I wrestled with that for, oh, gee, at least 10 minutes. I knew I wanted to use Abby's name in there somewhere, and because she can't physically speak due to her tracheostomy, and doesn't feel well enough to blog herself, I figured this would be a good way for peeps to hear her. And of course, there's the natural tie-in and pun to good 'ole "Dear Abby", who blazed her own trail many, many years and tears ago.

Finally, I try and make my posts a mix of informative medical goings on with a large dash of absurdism, because the situation is just too unimaginable to handle any differently, at least for us anyway. And as long as I can still keep my wife laughing, I get to be husband, dad, caregiver and Protector of the Realm.
